Attaf made phone call to his portuguese counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr Ahmed Attaf, had a telephone conversation this evening with the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Paulo Rangel.

On this occasion, Minister Ahmed Attaf reiterated his congratulations to his Portuguese counterpart on his recent appointment at the head of his country's diplomatic service, and discussed with him upcoming bilateral issues arising from the State visit made by the President of the Republic to Portugal last year, which gave new impetus and dynamism to relations between the two countries.

The two ministers also exchanged views and analyses on international and regional issues of common interest, foremost among which was the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories in the context of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. Mr Attaf expressed Algeria's appreciation for the honourable position of the Portuguese Republic on the Palestinian question, and welcomed its vote in favour of the General Assembly resolution on the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.
