Japanese participation to the fifteenth edition of the FIBDA International Comics strip Festival

The fifteenth edition of the FIBDA International Comics strip Festival, which took place in Algiers from 4 to 8 October 2023, was marked by the participation of over 80 artists and creators from a dozen countries, including many Japanese artists.

Among the Japanese participants were Katabuchi Sunao, the Japanese director of animated films, who screened his films "Princess Arrietty" and "In a corner of this world" at the festival, as well as Atsushi Kato, a specialist in the art of manga, who uses artificial intelligence to create his works, which are published on his website "Inksaga".

The artist Atsushi Kato, who was received at the Algerian Embassy in Tokyo after his participation in the festival, expressed his pride at having taken part for the first time in the FIBDA, which gave him the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with Algerian and foreign artists in the field of comics and manga. He also underlined the great interest shown by the Algerian public in his work, and the great generosity and hospitality of the Algerians he had the opportunity to meet.
