The Algerian Embassy in Tokyo commemorates 11 December 1960 Day
The Embassy of Algeria in Tokyo organized a ceremony of contemplation on the occasion of the commemoration of the day of December 11, 1960, marking the 62nd anniversary of the popular demonstrations in Algiers. After the intoning of the national anthem and the recitation of the Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of the national liberation struggle, the Ambassador of Algeria to Japan delivered a speech recalling the context of these demonstrations which demonstrated to international opinion the full support of the Algerian people for its sole and legitimate representative, the FLN, particularly after the registration of the Algerian issue at the UN, as well as its unwavering attachment to national independence.
He also recalled the fierce repression of the colonial police which caused the death of many martyrs who sacrificed themselves so that Algeria obtained its independence in 1962.
